DNA is in a double helix shape. It's made up of nucleotides which are known as the "building blocks". Nucleotides have three parts such as deoxyribose, phosphate group, and nitrogen base. Nitrogen base is made up of four components: adenine, thymines, guanines, and cytosines. These nitrogen bases are bounded by hydrogen bonds. The backbone of DNA is made up of sugar and phosphate molecules that are bonded by covalent bonds. Thymine always bonds with Adenine ; Cytosine always bonds with Guanine.

Why is DNA important?
DNA is very important because it is what carries all your genetic material starting from generations way back to future ones. The order in which the DNA is structered, makes you unique and different from everyone else. This is why children may look extremely similar to their parents, DNA is very important because it's what makes you stand out from the rest. It can also be used for investigation purposes, if the police were trying to find out a murder by taking DNA samples. DNA is a person's idenification.
